Dr Claudia Bausewein
PhD Clinical Research Training Fellow
Claudia Bausewein qualified at the University of Munich in 1992. Her medical background is internal medicine although she has been involved in Palliative Care in Germany for about 15 years. She is working as a consultant in palliative medicine at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Palliative Medicine at the University of Munich. Claudia is the current vice-president of the German Association for Palliative Medicine and is co-editing the German Journal of Palliative Medicine.
After completing the MSc course in the Department of Palliative Care, Policy and Rehabilitation at King's College, London, Claudia joined Cicely Saunders International in 2005 and is currently undertaking a part-time PhD on breathlessness. She is focusing on breathlessness and looking especially into the prevalence of breathlessness, patients' experience and their quality of life over time as well as non-pharmacological interventions to relieve breathlessness.
