International Scientific Expert Panel

Currently, four International Scientific Experts in palliative care and relevant topics sit on the expert panel. Membership of the panel is approved by the Board of Trustees, for three years, with an option to be re-elected for a further three years. Members of the panel are appointed based on their individual expertise and do not send alternative representatives. Their role is to identify appropriate areas of research, to review research proposals, to monitor progress and standards, and to review findings, in terms of quality and rigour of any conclusions. They follow the procedures of good practice in research and education reviewing in ensuring confidentiality to Cicely Saunders International, constructive critical appraisal and avoiding, where possible, conflict of interest, and declaring conflicts should they arise. The ISEP account to the Board of the Cicely Saunders International's Trustees.
